Overview
Discount cards in Stogly let you:
- Issue discount cards to specific customers — physical or digital
- Choose the discount — a fixed percentage on the card, or the customer's assigned price list
- Set expiry — permanent cards, or cards that expire on a date
- Revoke a lost or misused card without affecting the customer
- Print a card with a scannable barcode
- Scan at the POS to apply the discount during checkout
A customer can hold several discount cards. Discount cards are available on the Starter plan and above, for both retail and restaurant businesses.
Creating a Discount Card
- Navigate to Sales > Discount Cards
- Click Create Discount Card
- Fill in the details:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Customer | The customer the card belongs to. Search by name, email, or phone. |
| Card Code | The scannable code. Leave blank to auto-generate a unique code, or enter your own. |
| Card Type | Physical (a printed card) or Digital. |
| Discount Source | How the discount is calculated — see below. |
| Expiry | Permanent, or expires on a chosen date. |
| Notes | Optional internal notes. |
- Click Issue Card
How the Discount Is Applied
Each card uses one of two discount sources:
| Discount Source | Behaviour |
|---|---|
| Customer price list | The card applies whatever price list is assigned to the customer. Update the price list and every card for that customer follows automatically. |
| Fixed percentage | The card carries its own percentage (e.g. 15%), applied to the whole sale regardless of the customer's price list. |
Choose customer price list when the discount should track the customer's pricing tier. Choose fixed percentage when the card itself defines the deal.
Printing a Card
- Navigate to Sales > Discount Cards
- Click a card to open its details
- The card shows a scannable Code128 barcode
- Click Print Card to print it
Printed cards work with any standard handheld barcode scanner.
Editing & Revoking
Editing a Card
Open a card and click Edit to change the customer, discount, expiry, or card type. The card code itself cannot be changed once issued — this keeps already-printed cards valid.
Revoking a Card
If a card is lost or misused, revoke it:
- Open the card and click Revoke (or use the revoke action in the list)
- Enter a reason — this is required and kept for the audit trail
- A revoked card stops working at the POS immediately
Revoking a card does not affect the customer or any of their other cards.
Discount Card Statuses
| Status | Description |
|---|---|
| Active | The card works and applies its discount at the POS |
| Expired | The card passed its expiry date — no discount is applied |
| Revoked | The card was cancelled and no longer works |
The four summary cards at the top of the page (Total / Active / Expired / Revoked) double as filters — click one to filter the list.
Using a Card at the POS
- Ring up the customer's items as usual
- Scan the discount card barcode
- The POS validates the card and applies the discount:
- A revoked card is rejected with "card revoked"
- An expired card is rejected with "card expired" - The applied discount is shown on the sale and can be removed before completing it
Tips & Best Practices
- Use fixed-percentage cards for simple deals — "VIP 15%" is easy to explain to staff and customers
- Use price-list cards for tiered pricing — one change to the price list updates every linked card
- Revoke lost cards promptly — a revoked card stops working at the till right away
- Always record a revoke reason — it builds an audit trail of why each card was cancelled
- Issue several cards per customer — e.g. one per family member, all tied to the same account
