Create and manage intangible products that have no stock tracking — hourly rentals, packaging fees, entry tickets, consultations, and any service your business sells.
Overview
A service product is a new product type in Stogly, alongside Simple and Composite. Unlike physical items, services have no inventory, no warehouse assignment, and no stock deduction when sold — but they appear in your POS catalog, sync to sales channels, can be promoted, and show up in revenue reports.
Typical services:
- Kids playroom — 1h entry
- Football/tennis court rental — per hour
- Packaging fee — flat fee added at checkout
- Consultation — 30-min slot
- Event entry ticket — per person, per day
When to Use Each Product Type
| Type | Use for | Stock tracked? | Example |

| Simple | Physical items you stock and sell | ✓ Yes | Coca-Cola 0.5L, T-shirt |
| Composite | Products made from a recipe/BOM | ✓ Indirectly (ingredients) | Burger made from bun + patty + cheese |
| Raw Material | Ingredients used only in recipes | ✓ Yes | Flour, oil, beef |
| Service | Intangible, time-based, or fee items | ✗ No | 1h court rental, packaging fee |

- Category — organize services in a dedicated category like "Services" or "Rentals"

Unit Options for Services
| Unit | Use when |
|---|---|

| Session | Fixed-duration sessions (45-min massage, class) |
| Entry | Per-visit pricing (playroom, museum) |
| Day | Daily rentals or passes |
| Minute (min) | Short time slots (10-min phone support) |
| None (flat fee) | Fixed-price services (packaging fee, delivery) |

Tip: When you select Service as the product type, the unit defaults to "None (flat fee)". Change it to match your billing model.
What's Hidden for Services
To keep the form simple, these fields are hidden when creating a service:
- Inventory / stock quantity fields
- Warehouse and store assignments
- Variants (services don't have size/color)
- Supplier (services aren't procured)
- Weight and dimensions
Services can still have a barcode if you want to scan them at POS.
Selling Services at POS
Services appear in the POS catalog just like any other product:
- Cashier searches for the service or taps its category tile
- Service is added to the cart with its unit price
- Quantity can be adjusted (e.g., 2 hours of court rental)
- Receipt shows the service as a normal line item
- No stock deduction — backend and POS skip inventory updates entirely
Services are always available — they never show "out of stock" and don't trigger low-stock alerts.

Serbian VAT Note
Services in Serbia use the standard 20% PDV rate. Recreational services (playroom, sports field rental) and restaurant/food service all fall under the standard rate — no special rate applies.
Tips
- Create a dedicated Services category for easier POS navigation and reporting filters.
- For services that require time-slot scheduling (bookings, capacity management), see the Service Scheduling guide.
- Use barcode on services if cashiers scan a printed card or ticket (e.g., at a ticket window).
- Set cost price to track operational costs (e.g., coach fees, electricity for the field) so profit margins show accurately.
- Services can be added to promotions (e.g., "2-for-1 hour of playroom on Tuesdays").
